Keel Fleet, PHRF Information

The AYC Keel Fleet has chosen to utilize the PHRF (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet) handicap system.   The PHRF Rating Procedures are administered by the PHRF Handicap committee that is appointed by the Keel Fleet Officers.  The Handicap committee consists of 6 members, for 2008 the members are Robert Meyers, (Chairman),  Ray Schull, John Maddalozzo, Tom Lappin. Robert Gallant, and John Bargh. 

Fleet members must request a rating for a new boat and resubmit a written rating request if any performance modifications are made to their boat sails or rigging.  Any Keel Fleet member wishing to have a Local PHRF Rating reviewed for correctness may do so by requesting in writing to the PHRF Handicap committee chairman, Robert Meyers (rmeyers@austin.rr.com).

For 2008 the Keel Fleet class divisions for AYC Series races will be the same as used in 2007 which are

A Fleet, PHRF ratings of 0 to 138 Seconds/Nautical Mile,

B Fleet, PHRF ratings of 138 and higher and

Non Spinnaker Fleet which includes boats with all PHRF ratings.

For races other than AYC series races the Keel Fleet class divisions will be established at each event based upon the boats registered for the event.
